Brass Pressure Vessel

Brass Pressure Vessel

By Dale Peterson

Artist statement: “You tell me… I found this solid brass pressure vessel in the back of an out building on a farm. I have no idea of its earlier life but recognized it had awesome potential for a new life. It had two of its wooden valve handles (I had one to replace a missing one as well) that usually means it was housing something hot. The two glass sight tubes were gone and have been replaced with solid brass ones. The external copper tubing allowed me to run electrical power without trying to navigate the multi-chambered interior of the vessel itself. So there you have it - add a few gauges and a hand hammered cone shade with a vintage pull-chain brass socket sitting on an aluminum gear and you have a one-of-a-kind lamp.”
